Who Are We?

The Sod Source grows several types of Georgia sod so you can find the best turfgrass for your project. Whether it’s a commercial field or a home landscaping project, we can find sod to suit a huge variety of sun and shade conditions, irrigation requirements, or even different colors for the perfect look.

The business is still operated by our owner and founder Chris Hays. We don’t use middlemen – unlike some sod farms in Georgia, you’ll be purchasing directly from our farm where we grow and cut the turfgrass ourselves, so quality is guaranteed.

At Sod Source, no order is too big or too small. We have 500 acres of Georgia sod suited to all your needs. We can also deliver or arrange a collection for you or install it ourselves – ask for details.

Instant Results for Much Less Work

A traditional seeded lawn takes a long time to grow, is seasonal, and must be protected as it grows. Laying sod takes just hours, and you can usually use your new lawn within a couple of weeks.

Suitable for Commercial and Residential

When time is money, using sods rather than seeds often results in a more economical, cost-effective installation. This makes them a convenient choice, as well as one that’s more likely to yield the high-grade results you’re looking for.

Better Quality Lawn for Your Garden

A seeded lawn grows weeds along with the grass. These frequently need eliminating using weed killer, which isn’t always a child or pet-friendly process. Once your sods are laid, they require minimal maintenance to bed down when compared with the high demands of a newly seeded patch of soil.

Our Testimonials

Palmetto St. Augustine®

Palmetto St. Augustine®’s grass sod is a leading, patented turf-grass cultivar that has sold more units than any other sod variety. Its versatile nature and high tolerance to extreme shade, cold, frost, heat, and drought make it the ideal choice for a wide range of applications and solutions — including homes, businesses, and recreational venues.

St. Augustine grass generally requires moderate fertilizing and needs mowing every five to seven days. This sod is not ideal for all situations — some drawbacks include low traffic tolerance and high disease potential.

Emerald Zoysia®

If you’re wondering exactly what is Zoysia grass and whether it will be suited to your Georgia landscaping needs, the following brief notes may help out:

Emerald Zoysia® sod is one of two types of Zoysia grass supplied by The Sod Source. It is a mid-texture sod which offers excellent tolerance of shady conditions and is brilliant for areas of high footfall. The grass is tolerant of hot weather conditions and salt and also provides very good weed suppressant abilities.

Tifway 419 Bermuda®

Tifway 419 Bermuda Sod Grass is typically a sod for cooler seasons and is mostly grown in the northern areas of the US. The newer varieties of Bermuda mean it can now be grown in northern Georgia. So, if you need Bermuda sod for your Georgia landscaping requirements, check out some of the information below from The Sod Source experts.

Bermuda Tifway 419 offers excellent tolerance to the hottest weather but has quite low shade tolerance. It is an ideal turf grass for high traffic areas and does not display much wear. The sod also provides excellent injury recovery and salt tolerance.

Zeon Zoysia®

The other Zoysia grass we supply is Zeon Zoysia. So, get in touch if you are located in Georgia and looking for a great Zoysia grass sod supplier close by. Zeon Zoysia is an improved cultivar and is a much finer bladed grass. It still provides medium to high levels of shade tolerance and has excellent tolerance for hot conditions.
